Regarding the Con-Con Threat. I am joining the Tea Party and other Glenn Beck groups in my home state of Maine and posting Larry's excellent articles and I add one item. It is the Warren Burger's letter to Phyllis Schlafly regarding the potential damage of a Con Con. Here it is: http://www.jbs.org/action/downloads/freedom-campaign-downloads/15-warren-burger-letter-to-phyllis-schlafly-re-an-article-v-constitutional-convention/download
I managed to engage some people and have had good conversations. Thanks to Larry and JBS I have been able to backup my point of view!
Regardless of your political affiliation or what you think of any past or present administration, this is a good read.
545 PEOPLE
By Charlie Reese
Politicians are the only people in the world who create problems and then campaign against them.
Have you ever wondered why, “If both the Democrats and the Republicans are against deficits, WHY do we have deficits?”
Have you ever wondered why, “If all the politicians are against inflation and high taxes, WHY do we have inflation and high taxes?”
You and I don't propose a federal budget. The president does.
You and I don't have the Constitutional authority to vote on appropriations. The House of Representatives does.
You and I don't write the tax code, Congress does.
You and I don't=2 0set fiscal policy, Congress does.
You and I don't control monetary policy, the Federal Reserve Bank does. You and I have no say in who will be the Speaker of the House, the House of Representatives does.
One hundred senators, 435 congressmen, one president, and nine Supreme Court justices, 545 human beings out of the 300 million are directly, legally, morally, and individually responsible for the domestic problems that plague this country.
I excluded the members of the Federal Reserve Board because that problem was created by the Congress. In 1913, Congress delegated its Constitutional duty to provide a sound currency to a federally chartered, but private, central bank.
I excluded all the special interests and lobbyists for a sound reason. They have no legal authority. They have no ability to coerce a senator, a congressman, or a president to do one cotton-picking thing. I don't care if they offer a politician $1 million dollars in cash. The politician has the power to accept or reject it. No matter what the lobbyist promises, it is the legislator's responsibility to determine how he votes.
Don’t you see now the con game that is played on the people by the politicians? Those 545 human beings spend much of their energy convincing you that what they did is not their fault. They cooperate in this common con-job regardless of party.
What separates a politician from a normal human being is an excessive amount of gall. No normal human being would have the gall of Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who stood up and criticized President Bush for creating deficits. The president can only propose a budget. He cannot force the Congress to accept it.
The Constitution, which is the supreme law of the land, gives sole responsibility to the House of Representatives for originating and approving appropriations and taxes.
Pelosi is the leader of the majority party. She and fellow House members, NOT the president, can approve any budget they want. If the president vetoes it, they can pass it over his veto if they agree to.
It seems inconceivable to me that a nation of 300 million cannot replace 545 people who stand convicted -- by present facts -- of incompetence and irresponsibility. I can't think of a single domestic problem that is not traceable directly to those 545 people. When you fully grasp the plain truth that 545 people exercise the power of the federal government, then it must follow that what exists is what they want to exist.
If the tax code is unfair, it's because they want it unfair.
If the budget is in the red, it's because they want it in the red.
If the our military is in Iraq or Afghanistan , it's because they want th em in Iraq and Afghanistan .
If they do not receive social security -- but are on an elite retirement plan not available to the people -- it's because they want it that way.
There are no insoluble government problems. Do not let these 545 people shift the blame to bureaucrats, whom they hire and whose jobs they can abolish; to lobbyists, whose gifts and advice they can reject; to regulators, to whom they give the power to regulate and from whom they can take this power. Above all, do not let them con you into the belief that there exists disembodied mystical forces like "the economy," "inflation," or "politics" that prevent them from doing what they take an oath to do.
Those 545 people, and they alone, are responsible. They, and they alone, have the power. They, and they alone, should be held accountable by the people who are their bosses.
Provided the voters have the gumption and brains to manage their own over-paid employees. Before our mess can be cleaned up, these corrupted political prostitutes have to be voted out of office.
First of all... we need to stop reffering to our country as a Democracy. It isn't. It is a Constitutionally Guarenteed Republic. Democracy is a combination of two latin words for Communism. Demo (people) and Cracy (power). This was basic Americanism vs Communism in high school. Or have we rewritten Websters Dictionary to change the meanings to suit whoever is in power? You know.. similar to when Present Grant could spell so he had numours words officially changed so they made sence to him. There is way too much greed in our form of govt. This is what empowers them and the NWO and the IMF and all others seeking to rob us of our freedoms. If we want to get their attention.. then we need to get back to basics and become more self sufficient. That keeps the tax money out of their pockets and in ours. I appologize for running on with this.. but it's true and I'll attempt to refrain myself from it. But we need to communicate amongst ourselves too stay focused, have purpose and direction, and provide the other members with motivation to unite nationally to achieve our main goal of reestablishing our Constitution as it was orinally written.
<p>It looks grim for de-stimulating the Stimulus Bill, but it's not impossible.<p> <p>Crowds of people milling around the local offices of Congressmen around the country demanding representation are quite effective. <a href=" is a reminder.</a>
Thursday, February 12, 2009 HOUSE STIMULUS VOTE DELAYED HThe House will not vote on the $790 billion economic stimulus package today, a spokesman for Speaker Pelosi said this morning. The delay, which was not explained, casts doubt on the ability of Congress to deliver the bill to President Obama by Friday and could delay the start of the Presidents Day recess. Pelosi also delayed a news conference that had been scheduled for this morning until 3 p.m. The announcement came as House Republicans complained on the floor that they had not seen the text of the conference agreement. Rep. Jack Kingston, R-Ga., complained this morning on the House floor that lawmakers were being asked to vote, sight unseen, on "the largest single bill in the history of Congress." Some Democratic lawmakers fired back that Republicans didn't need to see the bill anyway, since none of them voted for the stimulus when it moved through the House the first time and would probably stand in opposition.
There is a new outlet available for voicing our concerns. www.patriotbrigaderadio.com is now broadcasting both online and over the clearchannel terrestrial airwaves. Patriotbrigade and co-owner Freedommarch.org is a community of like minded individuals who are fed up with the main stream media and are already aware of the facts the John Birch Society have been trying to bring to light for decades. As a member of both communities I encourage all my fellow Birchers to participate. No membership fees, No scam artists playing to your fears to take your money. Just a group of Patriotic American Citizens who know McCarthy was right, and are willing and ready to share their time and energy to educate America and fight to regain our God given rights.
