As quoted by the Washington Times:
The context for the quote comes from discussion of the Value Added Tax, which the Senate voted against by a tally of 85-13. But McCain's remark leaves us wondering if middle class Americans should now begin to worry very seriously about Congress targeting their already depleted pocketbooks.

McCain voted againt the VAT.
I'm no fan of McCain at all, but this quote doesn't prove that McCain is in favor of targeting the middle class. He voted AGAINST the VAT. McCain made that statement about the middle class to explain why he's opposed to the VAT.
ME
Sure, and He's now in favor of a strong Border; remember the amnesty we voted down in spite of him ! He was willing to sell us down the tubes with voting to allow the destruction of our freedom to choose and purchase freely our nutritional supplements , which was in payment of pharmaceutical company support for his failing campaign against J.D. Hayworth. ( Now it's going into another bill undercover; McCain will still be paid under the table for the support !)
Voting
People need to get off their soapbox and start voting in their precincts. People only complain AFTER somebody gets voted in. Ron Paul almost made it as president. The votes in the precincts proved that but the now democratic presidential primary, that's supposedly to represent us, made sure the McCain won. We need people to become precinct chairman and be 'active'.
This posting makes the John Birch Society look like they either don't know what they're talking about or are trying to be deceptive.
Wouldn't it make sense for a posting with the title "Is McCain in Favor of Targeting the Middle Class?" to explain why there's reason to believe that McCain is in favor of targeting the middle class? McCain voted against the VAT. The posting should point this out. The quote from McCain is his explanation as to why he is ostensibly against a VAT.
...
John, do you really think that defending McCain to us "useless eaters" is even worth the effort? He is one of those politicians who vote on the idea that what ever is valuable to them at the time is the way to go. His U.N. endorsed food supplement bill probably pays him well, as ME above points out. This is a RENEWAL of the bill sponsored by a female House member last year- who's husband just coincidentaly is an executive with MONSANTO! |
